Sedation Options We Offer

✔️ Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
When combined with local anesthetics, nitrous oxide helps patients relax while ensuring effective pain control. The dosage can be adjusted during treatment, and most patients are able to drive home soon afterward.

✔️ Oral or Injectable Sedation

  • Oral sedation may be taken as a pill or liquid a few hours before your visit. Because of its effects, you’ll need someone to drive you to and from your appointment.

  • Children are often given a liquid form before shots or IV anesthesia.

  • An intramuscular injection may also be provided in the office, giving a calming effect that lasts 20–30 minutes.

✔️ Nitrous Oxide + Oral Sedative
For patients with stronger dental anxiety, an oral or injectable sedative can be used before starting nitrous oxide. This approach can also ease worries about the local anesthetic injection itself. In children, a liquid sedative followed by nitrous oxide can create a deeper level of relaxation.

✔️ General Anesthesia
General anesthesia may be administered either as an inhaled gas or through an IV. If no oral sedative is given beforehand, patients usually wake up quickly after the procedure.

In some cases, a pill or liquid medication can be offered prior to IV sedation to reduce anxiety. IV sedation can also be adjusted from moderate to deep levels, without complete loss of consciousness.
